Laser Levels - surveyingstuff.com

Laser levels

Laser levels of all types are used across the construction industry, and the type needed will vary according to the demands of the job.

We have prepared a short guide to some of the main terms associated with laser levels:

Self-levelling or manual?

Laser levels are either ‘self-levelling’, i.e. they find their own level without requiring adjustment, or ‘manual’, i.e. the user must manually adjust the level. Other laser levels can be semi-automatic i.e. the user levels a circular bubble to allow the onboard compensator to take over and finely level the beam.

Single grade or dual grade laser

A grade laser is one that can be used to define a gradient. Single grade calculates gradient in one plane only, while dual grade lasers are used to determine gradient in two planes at once.
We have a great range of single grade and dual grade lasers in our online catalogue.

Rotating or straight-line lasers

Rotating lasers emit laser beams from a rotating beacon to generate a level plane across 360 degrees. A straight-line laser emits one or more single laser beams, to perform functions such as generating a cross-line or plumb line.

On a budget?

There are a number of small and affordable pocket laser levels available with a variety of features, like the versatile 5 beam Multipoint laser.

Pipe lasers

A pipe laser is commonly used when installing drains or sewers. The laser is usually positioned inside the first section of pipe and once the grade and alignment have been set, subsequent sections of pipe can be installed with great accuracy.
Take a look at our pipe lasers category.

Laser receivers

A laser receiver can be used in conjunction with the laser level, usually over larger areas or outside in bright sunlight. The receiver picks up the laser beam signal and a level is found by adjusting the height of the receiver until a constant tone is emitted.
We have a full range of laser receivers compatible with all the laser levels we sell – the Rod-Eye range from Leica offers a receiver to suit every budget.

Anything else?

As well as laser levels and receivers there are a number of other accessories you may need. Various types of tripod depending on the task in hand, a flexi-rod to hold your receiver in position, or maybe a pair of laser goggles to enhance visibility of the beam.

In addition to sales of laser levels, receivers and accessories, we also offer equipment hire, repair and calibration services. For prices and availability please contact us on 0191 4789333 or email info@surveyingstuff.com
